In 2022, the Malta Classics Association launched the θέατρον (Theatron) project. The aims of this project are to recognise the intimate link between theatre and the Classical world, to create a database of theatre pieces that are either classical or clearly inspired by the Classics, and to encourage the creation of new theatre pieces in Maltese and English (the official languages of the Republic of Malta) and their potential staging for Maltese audiences.
The database collects information on the following categories of works:
(a) Tragedies and Dramas
(b) Comedies
(c) Operas
(d) Ballets and Symphonies
Works included in the database may be in any language but must exist in full. If you would like to contribute an unlisted work to the database, please feel free to fill in this form.
